When you walk outside in the morning, you may not even notice the dew that is covering every surface. After a while, it just seems normal for everything outside to be a little wet in the morning.
If you’re reading this though, chances are you had a moment where you thought about it and realized you don’t know exactly what dew is or where it comes from.
Scientifically-speaking, dew is a form of condensation. Dew is not rain and it doesn’t exactly fall to the ground.
The dew doesn’t really come from anywhere, it is water vapor that is already in the air around you.
As the day turns into night, the air cools. Cool air can’t hold the same amount of water vapor as warm air, so when the temperature reaches what is called the dew point, the water vapor turns to water droplets and the air releases it.
When we switch from night back to day, the air warms up and the water evaporates and absorbs back into the air.
