How to stop a bully in their tracks

Psychologically speaking, bullying is an act of dominance and oneupmanship. If you’re being bullied and are able to see the situation for what it is, you can stop it in its tracks.

Realize that a bully is typically insecure. A person who is secure in themselves doesn’t try to put another person down and isn’t concerned with where they rank in life.

The key is to not take yourself or the bully too seriously. When you’re able to step back and look at the situation for what it is, you can diffuse any bully with ease.

Your bully is just a person who struggles with self-confidence. The more confident you are, the more self-deprecating you are, and the more you are unruffled by it, the less rewarding it is for someone trying to bully you.

A person who lacks self-confidence will try to build their own confidence by bringing other people down. Confidence in the face of doubt, calm in the face of emotional chaos, can end a negative encounter with someone before it has a chance to really start.

Notice how difficult it is for the girl in this video to counter someone who absolutely refuses to be bullied and who will not let someone else’s opinions ruffle him.
